Edit Assets

Do you need to make changes to your assets? No need to reupload them. From the asset detail view you can make the changes you need or choose to batch edit your assets. Batch editing is especially helpful if the same modifications need to be applied to a large number of assets. Find out below how you can edit your assets.

Choose your situation below:

Follow the steps below to edit a single asset.

Note

Depending on your portal setup, some options or settings may not be available.

  1. Open the asset you want to edit. In the Info tab you will see the metaproperties the asset is currently tagged with.

  2. Click the Edit tab in the right side bar. Read more about the modifications you can make below:

    • Title & description

      Click the title or description field to add text or to modify the existing information.

    • Copyright, camera, author & publication date

      Click these fields to add text or to modify the existing information.

      Note

      Some of these options may not be available depending on your portal setup.

    • Metaproperties

      1. Click a metaproperty to open it. The metaproperty options will appear or a textbox will be displayed.

        Note

        Metaproperties that are not configured as 'main filter' are available under the Custom Fields section.

      2. Tag your assets with the desired options(s) or text.

        • Options

          Tick the option(s) you want to tag the asset with. Optionally you can also untick the option(s) you no longer want the asset to be tagged with.

        • Text

          Enter text in the input field or modify the existing text. You can also remove the text.

      3. Click the Save button to save the changes.

      4. (Optional) Click the Version tab to add or remove versions, additional files or manual derivatives.

Follow the steps below to batch edit your files.

Note

Depending on your portal setup, some options or settings may not be available.

  1. Go to the overview page of the Asset Bank.

  2. Select the assets you want to edit and click the batch_edit_icon.png button or press the E key on your keyboard.The batch editing screen will open and you will see the thumbnails of the assets you selected on the overview screen. By default a selection of more than 20 assets will be grouped together and no individual thumbnails will be shown. Contact your Customer Success Manager if you want to increase this to a maximum of 50 individual thumbnails.

In the left sidebar you can find the metaproperties, tags and other options the assets are currently tagged or configured with.

Any modification you make in the left sidebar will be applied to all selected assets. You can select or deselect an asset by ticking or unticking the select_box.png box in the right top corner of a thumbnail.

Tip

Do you want to make specific modifications for specific assets only?

In the left sidebar, click the eye02.png icon of the field you want to edit. The field will be displayed below the thumbnails, so that you can make modifications for each asset individually.

  • Title & description

    Click the title or description field to add text or to modify the existing information.

  • Copyright, camera, author & publication date Click these fields to add text or to modify the existing information.

    Note

    Some of these options may not be available depending on your portal setup.

  • Metaproperties

    Unlike the upload screen, metaproperty option dependencies are not respected in the batch editing screen. This means that all options are visible in the left sidebar. When you batch edit (some) assets may be tagged with a metaproperty option that is dependent on another option, whereas other assets do not have this dependency. By showing you all options, you can see the number of assets that is tagged with a dependent option, which allows you to make modifications if necessary.

    1. Click a metaproperty to open it. The metaproperty options will appear or a textbox will be displayed. An indicator will indicate how many assets are already tagged with an option.

      Note

      Metaproperties that are not configured as 'main filter' are available under the Custom Fields section.

    2. Tag your assets with the desired option(s) or text.

      • Options

        Tick the option(s) you want to tag the asset with. Optionally you can also untick the option(s) you no longer want the asset to be tagged with. Click the X icon in an indicator to remove the metaproperty option from all selected assets.

      • Text

        Enter text in the input field or modify the existing text. You can also remove the text.

  • Tags

    1. Go to the Info tab and go to the Tags section.

    2. Enter a new tag in the Add tags field and press Enter to add it. Optionally, you can remove a tag by following these steps:

      1. Click the eye02.png icon next to the Tags field in the left sidebar. For each thumbnail the Tags field will now be available under Optional fields.

      2. Click this field and a popup will open.

      3. Click the X icon of the tag you want to remove and click OK to close the popup.

    3. Advanced rights

      In this section you can mark or unmark an asset as watermarkedlimited usagearchived or public.

  • Collections

    Here you can add the selected assets to a new or existing collection. Read more about collections here.

  1. Click the Save selected files button to save the changes.
