Searching for assets

Are you looking for content in your Bynder portal? There are two ways in which you can look for assets in your DAM. Use the search bar to find assets, collections and Brand Guidelines. Use the available (smart) filters if you're not exactly sure what you're looking for or if you simply want to filter your content.

  • Search bar on top of the page

In this way, when you enter a search term, Bynder looks for it in titles, descriptions, tags and collection names. It can also scan the text in PDFs and other text files. For more information on using the search bar, see Use the search bar to find assets.

  • Filters

You can narrow down your selection of assets and filter for the asset you need.

You can combine multiple filters for more accurate results. For example, you can use a combination of taxonomy filters, tag filters and Advanced filters.

    • Taxonomy filters are based on your metaproperties and metaproperty options.

    • The Advanced filter helps you filter on asset type (for example: video or document), dimensions, date the asset was added or asset orientation (for example: portrait or landscape).

    • The Tags filter enables you to search on the tags that have been created for assets.

    • The Color filter enables you to filter assets on selected colors. On upload images are scanned to find out which color is used most, and that color is then returned in the filter results.

The filter by color feature is deprecated for portals that are on Files Service. If your portal is not on Files Service yet you can still make use of this feature.

Are you not sure if you're on File Service? We've sent out communication to our clients who are on File Service. Contact your portal administrator for more information.

When you close your filters to view the results, your filter selection remains visible in the top bar to help you keep tract of the filters you applied. For more information on how filters work, see Use filters to find assets.

To save you time finding and applying the same filters next time you want to find the same set of assets, you can save your filter selection. See Create, save and share your own selection of filters.

  • Search bar and filters

You can also use this combination to find assets. For example, you can find assets that match a keyword or phrase that you put in the search bar, and further refine the search by applying filters.
