Public Bynder material and search engines
Do you have public assets or public collections and are you concerned about whether they can be indexed by search engines. Find out below which measurement we can put in place and what you can do yourself to prevent your material from being indexed.
When a link to a public asset or collection is not referenced on another external page, blog or website it is very unlikely that search engine bots, crawlers or spiders can index your public Bynder materials.
To be even more certain that your public assets and collections are not indexed, we can set up a robots.txt file for your portal, which contains a disallow for search engine bots. This will eliminate the chance that robots can crawl and index your public Bynder materials. Contact your Customer Success Manager if you want this to be set up for your portal.
Once a search engine does find an external link to your public material, there is a chance your public collection or asset will be indexed by that search engine. When using the right keywords in that search engine, other people may find and access your public assets and collections.
Note
Once the robots.txt file has been set up search engine bots won't be able to access your Bynder portal and can't index any type of content. It's not possible to set up exceptions for specific content types.
What can you do yourself?
If you don't want your public assets and collections to be indexed by search engines, make sure that you and your users do not reference the URLs on any external website.
