Track asset usage
Have you ever wanted to update or delete your assets within Bynder, but couldn't remember on which external websites your assets were used? Optimize your asset flow and know where your assets are used with the Asset Tracker. The Asset Tracker easily tracks which assets are used where in your external CMS solutions and warns users when they try to archive or delete an asset that is used on a different channel.
Follow the steps below to view the tracking data of an asset or check the Advanced filter to find out how you can filter by tracked assets that are used on different channels.
- Log in to your Bynder portal.
- Open the asset you want to track and click on the Statistics tab.
- Go to the Asset tracker section. Here you can see in which CMS system the asset is used, on which page the asset is integrated and when it was added.
- Click on the URL to directly go to the page where the asset is used.
The Asset Tracker currently works out of the box with the following solutions:
- Drupal 8
The Asset Tracker can also work natively with other integrations. Contact your Customer Success Manager to see what the possibilities are for the following systems:
- Drupal 7
- Salesforce Social Studio
- Salesforce Commerce Cloud
If you have built a custom Bynder integration for one of the systems listed below, you can also implement the Asset tracker yourself by using our asset usage API calls. Save yourself the hassle of implementing these calls yourself and make use of our SDKs. Our SDKs already have the Asset Tracker usage calls implemented by default. Check out the three calls below if you want to manually integrate them into your code.
The moment a Bynder asset is integrated into an external CSM system, you use this call to create a record for the Asset Tracker that the asset is used externally.
This call be used to retrieve information on where your assets are used externally.
When you no longer use the asset on your external CMS, the record also needs to be removed from the Asset Tracker. This removal can be done via this API call.

- After the Asset Tracker has been integrated, decide which user profiles should be able to track assets. Go to Settings>Users & rights>Permission Management and make sure the permission Statistics is enabled for the user profiles that should be able to access the Asset Tracker data.

Your asset is most likely not used on an external CMS solution. When you add an asset to one of our supported CMS solutions, the data in the Asset tracker gets automatically updated. If you are sure your asset is used externally, make sure that your CMS is supported natively or check whether your custom Asset Tracker integration is working correctly.
Yes, as long as the CMS solutions are supported, multiple channel tracking information should be available. If an asset is used on for example your Drupal 8 solution as well as on your TYPO3 instance, the information of both of these channels will be available in the Asset Tracker.
The asset is used on a different channel and the Asset Tracker warns you before archiving or deleting this tracked asset. When archiving or deleting tracked assets they will no longer be visible on your external solution(s). Double check whether this is the desired outcome prior to deleting or archiving your tracked asset.
